Transportation is available, free of charge, to students who live in the Hampden-Wilbraham Regional School District. We currently bus 3,500 students. The State of Massachusetts requires a school district to transport elementary students who live one and one-half miles or more from his/her attendance area. The HWRSD often buses elementary students within the one and one-half mile radius because of the lack of adequate sidewalks and on the advice of the Town Safety Officer. There are some areas where students walk to school because there is a cross-walk and a crossing guard
available for students. At MRHS, students who live two miles or more from the school have transportation privileges.
