Soule Road School was built in 1970. In the 1980s, Soule Road School served various grades; in recent years, it became a “neighborhood school” serving grades 2-6 for about 350 students. Soule Road School has 21 regular classrooms with an open courtyard in the center of the building where students and teachers maintain a landscaped design. The building has a science lab where students are taught “hands-on” science by a science specialist. The building also has a computer lab where the students receive computer classes once a week. The additional co-curricular activities during the school day include Physical Education, Health, Art, Music, Chorus (grades 5 & 6), Band and Instrumental Instruction (grades 5 & 6). The school has a gymnasium, two ball fields, a library media center, and a cafetorium available for
special programs and to serve hot lunches daily to students. All classrooms have computers and access to the Internet. The media center has multiple computers, which assists students in their research. Students have regular homework assignments and participate in many project-oriented learning activities in their classrooms.
There are more than 30 individuals on the instructional staff, with a science specialist, adjustment counselor, the services of a psychologist on a consulting basis, special education resource rooms and staff, a music room and art room, and a health room nurse. Parents at Soule Road School recently raised the funds to install a new playscape on school grounds. The P.T.O. is very active in sponsoring programs and activities throughout the year. Soule Road School has an active Technology Committee dedicated to the continual improvement of technology throughout the school.
