Title V Inspection Report is good for 2 years, and if pumped yearly, a one year extension may be granted. Records for all three pumps must be submitted in order to receive the 3rd year extension.
Certificate of Compliance – which is issued by the Board of Health is good for two years from the date of final inspection.
Where can I find information about the location of my septic system. – Engineering Office during normal business hours.
There is no guarantee how long a Septic System will function properly.
Do’s and Don’ts of Septic System:
· Do pump. It is recommended every two years, more if needed.
· Do use liquid laundry and dishwasher detergent.
· Please use bleach sparingly.
· Do laundry each and every day, spreading out loads (no back to back).
· Run the dishwasher when not doing laundry.
· Do take quick showers.
· Do repair leaking faucets and toilets.
· Do not be a Saturday laundry person. Spread your loads out during the week.
· Do not throw grease down the drains/toilets.
· Do not wash paint brushes or dump extra paint in sink/drains.
· Do not pour chemicals., ie drain cleaners, cleaners, turpentine, paint thinners,
pesticides, or other harsh chemicals down the drains/toilet(s).
· Do not empty shop vac or rug shampooers down the drain/toilet.
· Do not add any septic system additives to your system.
· Do not connect a sump pump to the drains. Put it out in the yard.
· Do not drive motor vehicles or heavy equipment over your system.
· Do not put in a garbage grinder or water conditioner in your home if the system
is not designed for it.
· Do not use the toilet as a waste basket. No baby wet wipes, Q-tips, tissues,
dental floss, diapers, sanitary products, etc.
· It is recommended to use white toilet paper, no dies, additives.
