Selectmen seek Volunteers to fill Vacancies on Elected Boards
Selectmen would like to hear from town residents willing to serve on town boards and committees, including two positions on elected boards. The board is preparing to fill a position on the Library Board of Trustees, created with the resignation of 35-year veteran William R. Massidda. The Planning Board will lose Edward T. Stevenson, a member for 27 years. The elected positions will be filled by selectmen meeting jointly with the voting members of each elected board. The new appointees will serve until the next annual town election (May, 2010), at which time the positions will appear on the ballot.

David W. Barry, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, would like to hear from people with the time and interest to be involved on these boards. “We are looking for enthusiastic people who can contribute to policy development and service delivery in the specialized area of responsibility for each board,” says Barry. “Town government works best with willing citizens bringing their talents to our civic life,” he added.

Individuals wishing to participate on a town board or committee should send a letter about their interest, or a resume, to the Board of Selectmen at the Town Office Building, 240 Springfield Street. E-mail can be directed to selectmen@wilbraham-ma.gov. Volunteers should be town residents and registered voters. For more information, residents may consult the Annual Town Report, available at the Town Office Building, which includes reports from the various committees, or by visiting the town's website: www.wilbraham-ma.gov.

Vacancies also exist on the (non-elected) Historical Commission, Cultural Council, Personnel Board and the Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee.
