“Invitation to Honor all Veterans”

WILRAHAM, October 27, 2009: Veterans’ Agent Richard J. Prochnow invites the public to attend the annual Veterans’ Day Ceremony at Crane Park in the center of town beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11. Speakers include State Senator Gale D. Candaras, State Representative Angelo Puppolo and James E. Thompson of the Board of Selectmen.

        Our keynote speaker is Captain Matthew T. Mutti, Chief of Staff, Massachusetts Air National Guard, 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes. Born in Holyoke, Captain Mutti is a native of Western Massachusetts, he attended Springfield Central High School, received his bachelor degree in English and Sociology at UMASS, and went on to earn a masters degree in the science of administration concentrating in human resources at the University of Central Michigan. He then worked as the Deputy Chief of Manpower and Organization, then as the Security Forces Section Commander at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey, before returning to Massachusetts in 2005 as the Director of Personnel, and Personnel Contingency Operations Officer at the Air National Guard base in Westfield, where he was selected to service as Chief of Staff and was promoted to Captain in May of 2005. Capt Mutti is married to the former Lori Benoit of Wilbraham.  They have a darling puppy and a talented cat, and a baby on the way.

        Veterans’ organizations to post their colors include the Western New England College Army ROTC Color Guard, the Western Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans Chapter 111, the Polish American Veterans and American Legion Post 286. The Quaboag Highlanders Pipe and Drums will send a contingency, and the Wilbraham & Monson Academy Choral Group “Mosaic Harmony” will provide musical interludes. A flyover of F15 fighter aircraft has been requested and refreshments will be served at the Wilbraham Village Store and Café immediately following the ceremony.
